Pastor's Message

When I think of the Camp and how the Lord can be glorified there, I think of a favorite verse.

"Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus." - Colossians 1:28

As we set out, by the grace of God and in prayerful dependence upon His Holy Spirit, to walk in the Great Commission of making disciples, we proclaim Christ to both the save and the unsaved. It almost goes without saying the unsaved need to hear about Christ, but what about Christians? In addition to evangelism, the Great Commission includes edification and discipleship. We want to tell the people of God about our Lord Jesus Christ! What He has done, what He is doing now, and what He will do in the future! What a message we have to declare.

My dear friend and one who discipled me said about this subject, "God has a gloriously rich message that He wants us to declare. It is about His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. "Him we preach (proclaim)." Our message is about a Person. It is not about success or health or wealth. It is not about revolution or recovery or religion. It is not about philosophy or psychology. It is not about politics or programs.

We are sent forth to proclaim "Christ in you, the hope of glory." Here is the amazing life-giving and life-changing truth. The Son of God comes to live in and among and through the people of God. As He dwells with us this way, He is our hope--our expectation, our confidence, our certainty--of glory (heaven with God some day and glorious things of God day by day)."

Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je West is known as a Discipleship Camp. There is good food, lots of recreation, sports, fun, hiking and fishing. But, the most important theme in and through it all is Jesus Christ. It's Him we proclaim at Camp "I'd Rather Have Jesus".
